bringing people, partnerships, and possibilities
together for a stronger community
Since 1928, the City of Friona has seen steady population and economic growth. The 2010 census listed the population of Friona as 4,123. The City owns the municipal water and wastewater services. Additionally, the City operates a local police department, emergency medical services, public works, library, municipal court, and general administrative staff. Fire service protection is provided by an all-volunteer fire department. The local solid waste collection is contracted with an area vendor.
To bring people, partnerships and possibilities together for a stronger community.
To be a community that embraces change while respecting the rich heritage of the area.

Friona Construction Project
The City of Friona is scheduled to begin construction on October 22nd on a water improvement project through a grant provided by the Texas Department of Agriculture. Currently, the City has water lines that are undersized, resulting in insufficient water pressure and frequent maintenance issues. This project will install lines in order to provide adequate water pressure and prevent these maintenance issues in the future. This project will benefit 393 persons, of which 77% are of low-to moderate-income. Construction will continue for the next 25 weeks. Please see the attached map for the area effected by the construction. The completion date is scheduled for April 15, 2019. If anyone has any questions, they can contact the City’s Public Works Director, Salvador Garcia, at (806) 250-2761.
