The Lead Service Line Inventory is a requirement established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and administered in Texas by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Public water systems must identify and document the materials used in all water service lines, including both the city-owned portion and the customer- owned portion, to determine whether lead-containing pipes are present. Each service line must be classified as lead, non-lead, galvanized requiring replacement, or lead status unknown. The inventory helps protect public health by identifying potential sources of lead in drinking water and supporting future pipe replacement and compliance efforts.
The initial inventory was due October 16, 2024. Public water systems must maintain and update their inventory through TCEQ’s SWIFT portal and prepare for the next baseline inventory submission due November 1, 2027
Customers can help assist the city in ensuring your water service line (customer-owned portion) is accurate by notifying the Director of Public Works, Jose Samarron at 806-250-2761 or by email here
