The City of Friona is proposing a garage sale ordinance for the entire town to be taken into consideration. This is in part for the community-wide campaign, “Keep Friona Clean”. We have outlined the most important details and are providing the public with a summary of the contents of the proposed garage sale ordinance below:
A permit will now be required in order to set up any sort of garage sale, yard sale, moving sale, or any other sale of tangible personal property
A permit will need to be filled out at City Hall during regular hours.
There is no fee to obtaining a permit, however, it is limited to 4 permits per calendar year per person or premise
No garage sale shall extend for a period longer than 3 days.
Signs are prohibited on public places, sidewalks, utility poles, or any place that can impair or obstruct traffic, but are permitted to be posted on the location of where the sale is to take place only for the duration of the sale.
Signs are to be taken down after the conclusion of such sales.
Any person found in violation of any provision mentioned above of this ordinance can be fined a penalty of $500.
